Sensing that her children\u2019s father had something he wanted to communicate before he died, the legendary Hollywood actress was \u201cdevastated\u201d by his untimely death. She became well-known in the 1970s and 1980s as a result of her part in the popular action series \u201cThe Dukes of Hazzard.\u201d She almost lost out on her role in the hit series, even though she played one of the most recognizable roles on television.<\/p>\n

The public personality revealed in an open interview, \u201cBeing Daisy Duke was a total coincidence! \u201cMy agency said, \u2018You\u2019re way too exotic and just not television material,\u2019 and I got fired!\u201d I\u2019m half Mexican and half German.<\/p>\n

She was determined to disprove her detractors, though. The actress disclosed that David Shaw, her first husband, had ties to Bob Clark, who was working with the show\u2019s creator, Gy Waldron.<\/p>\n

Since she served as some inspiration for the character, Bob proposed that they meet her. She was hesitant at first, telling a friend that they had been looking for someone who resembled Dolly Parton, a blonde, for more than a year.<\/p>\n

She was cast two weeks after her friend persuaded her to go, nevertheless. Noting with pride that she is now regarded as the All-American girl, she even created the famous Daisy Duke ensemble herself.<\/p>\n

Her hubby served as a producer and production manager behind the scenes while the actress enthralled viewers on TV. Shaw became well-known for his roles in movies including \u201cThe Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax\u201d (1999) and \u201cMurder, She Wrote\u201d (1984).<\/p>\n

During their 1976\u20131981 marriage, the TV personality and her first husband had no children together. Later on, she married Peter Lopez, a music lawyer and co-founder of Kleinberg Lopez Lange Cuddy & Klein. Michael Jackson and Michael Bubl\u00e9 were among the well-known musicians that Lopez had represented.<\/p>\n

After getting married in 1990, the couple had two daughters. In January 1996, their first child, Sophia, was born, and in October 1998, their second daughter, Laura, was born.<\/p>\n

In an interview, the family woman talked about her marriage to Lopez. She was so grateful and happy that she thought about it a lot. The star considered herself fortunate to have her family and the man she loved. Everything appeared flawless to her; there were no issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can remain at home with our children. He used to be a lawyer and earns a fair living. The best thing that has ever occurred to me is this. Suddenly, it was simply gone,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n

When her spouse of 20 years committed suicide at their house in April 2010, the Ohio native\u2019s life was completely upended. In an interview, she talked about her memories of that fateful day. She related how her husband approached her behind her at the stove while she was making breakfast and said, \u201cHey, aren\u2019t you forgetting something?\u201d<\/p>\n

She was initially perplexed, believing that everything was in order, but after realizing, she went to embrace him, kissing him deeply and declaring, \u201cI love you.\u201d When he was home, they did this every day as a way to show their love for one another.<\/p>\n

Then, since she was running late for her meetings, she asked him if he could drop the kids off at school. He nodded, and she watched him go, with her usual admiration, observing how he stopped, shrugged his shoulders, and turned slightly before walking away.<\/p>\n

The mother of two recalled how he felt like saying anything at that very moment, but decided against it because the morning was so hectic and he kept moving down the corridor. She thought he was thinking about something, but they just didn\u2019t have time to chat.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cBye, I love you,\u201d as his girls got out of the car after he dropped them off at school. \u201cBye, dad,\u201d was their reply, and they didn\u2019t see him again. She attested to the fact that her husband used a gun to end his own life. Before the incident, he had strolled to the top of their property, which was a few acres in size and enclosed by gates.<\/p>\n

She raced up the hill to see what had happened after hearing the gunshot. But her sense of duty to her two young girls prevented her from continuing, telling her to stay out of any possible danger. He was eventually found by one of the domestic staff members. They dialed 911 right away, and the cops surrounded their house shortly after.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were inconsolable. The veteran actress acknowledged, \u201cI mean, we were completely insulated and happy with our family, and when you are part of a happy family unit, you lose part of that.\u201d Following her husband\u2019s death, she and her eldest daughter read a ton of literature in an attempt to understand why it occurred.<\/p>\n
